Mona Abdul Manap

Mona has a background in Marketing with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing & Management from Curtin University of Technology, Australia. She later obtained her MBA in Entrepreneurship in Kuala Lumpur.

Starting her career in banking, she was in charge of the bank’s ladies banking products, of which she was responsible for the marketing of the products. She was instrumental in creating a marketing campaign for the bank’s ladies banking products as well as training bank branches throughout the country on new products within the ladies banking product range.

Mona later came back to her hometown to pursue her interest in the tourism and hospitality industry. She headed a travel agency based in Kuching and was later heading the Aiman group of companies, which comprised of said travel agency, a resort, a consultancy firm, and a conference management company.

True to her entrepreneurial spirit, she later set up Place Borneo Sdn Bhd, a Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) and Business Events management company.

Her experience from 2005 covers restaurant management, teaching, sales, product marketing, new product development, operations in a destination management company (DMC), tour arrangements, tour leading, music festival management, conference organising, bidding and event design.

The travel agency, under her stewardship previously, received the Anak Sarawak Award for Best Incentive Programme in 2013, awarded by the Sarawak Convention Bureau (now Business Events Sarawak).
